CRC Health Group Divisions

CRC Health Group is the most trusted specialized behavioral health organization in the nation. For over two decades, CRC has provided healing and hope to thousands of people throughout the United States. By offering the largest array of personalized treatment services, individuals, families, and professionals can choose the most appropriate treatment setting for their behavioral health needs.

RECOVERY DIVISION

We believe that a seamless continuum of care is the key to fostering long-term recovery. To achieve this goal, we provide comprehensive care to adults and adolescents at every stage of the healing process, from detoxification, inpatient rehab treatment, and partial hospitalization or day treatment to intensive outpatient and extended care programs.

At CRC, we understand that recovery is an ongoing process. In order to meet patients wherever they are in the life cycle of their disorder, we offer programs at various levels of care. Often, treatment for a chemical dependency problem begins with a short-term, high-intensity intervention such as 24-hour inpatient rehab, and then continues with progressively less intensive interventions such as outpatient treatment a few hours a day or day treatment/partial hospitalization 5-6 full days a week. This gradual step-down process helps patients transition in slow, manageable steps toward assuming responsibility for their own sobriety. Whether patients require high-intensity, full-time treatment or lower intensity, part-time treatment, or fall somewhere in between, CRC Health has a program to meet their needs.

Inpatient Rehab Treatment

CRC’s residential treatment facilities provide both short- and long-term intensive inpatient treatment and counseling services to individuals who abuse alcohol, illicit or prescription drugs, or other substances. Dual diagnosis treatment and medication management services are available for patients struggling with co-occurring disorders, unresolved emotional trauma, or compulsive behaviors. For patients who prefer to receive treatment in a female- or male-only setting, CRC also offers a variety of gender-specific treatment programs.

Once a patient chooses a residential program, highly qualified professionals who specialize in addiction will assess and evaluate the medical, psychological, and emotional needs of each patient and design an individualized treatment plan geared toward their unique needs. Whether a patient needs a detoxification program, counseling, educational seminars, or group therapy, CRC has a program that blends traditional and innovative therapies to help patients confront the issues underlying their disorders. Using the 12-step model and cognitive-behavioral therapies, patients will develop coping skills and tools to improve their self-esteem, interpersonal relationships, and vocational productivity.

CRC’s residential treatment centers touch on every aspect of a patient’s life. In addition to receiving top-notch treatment for their disorders, many of our facilities offer life skills training, trauma resolution groups, art therapy, spirituality groups, yoga, meditation, and more. Patients can also take part in dozens of sober recreational activities that feed the mind, body, and spirit. Every step of the way, we strive to make the recovery experience as smooth and pleasant as possible.

In a peaceful, retreat-like setting that is removed from the pressures, demands, and temptations of everyday life, our residential patients can focus on what matters most – getting and staying well. With breathtaking views of some of the nation’s most picturesque landscapes, our residential treatment centers provide support 24 hours a day in a nurturing, structured environment.

Recognizing that recovery takes time, dedication, and patience, many of our residential treatment centers offer extended care. These programs allow clients to develop independent living skills and practice the strategies they learned in treatment while living in a safe and supportive residential environment. With the guidance of a multidisciplinary therapy team and a support network of recovering peers, patients learn practical skills such as budgeting, personal safety, meal planning, and time management. As patients grow stronger, they begin to seek employment or pursue educational goals while learning to enjoy a life of sobriety.

Intensive Outpatient Treatment

CRC’s intensive outpatient treatment facilities provide a “step-down” level of care that gives clients a flexible alternative to residential or day treatment. Patients will receive an individualized assessment, multidisciplinary treatment based on the 12-step philosophy, referrals for community services, and ongoing support specifically designed for those clients who do not require 24-hour care. Depending on their individual needs, clients can receive treatment at our facilities up to three hours a day, three days a week, while engaging in their normal everyday life at home.

Outpatient treatment provides a forum for clients to discuss issues and receive support while coping with their day-to-day work, school, and life stressors. In a traditional counseling setting, addiction specialists help patients resolve interpersonal conflicts, stress, anxiety, and other emotional concerns that relate to chemical dependency. Group therapy sessions may focus on strategies for maintaining sobriety, avoiding relapse, and developing a supportive environment for recovery. Our outpatient treatment facilities also offer education and support for families helping their loved one through the recovery process.

Serving men and women of all ages and backgrounds, our intensive outpatient programs provide a structured, educational, and supportive therapeutic setting for individuals to identify and address clinical problems that could interfere with the recovery process. With appropriate treatment, patients will better understand how their disorder has affected their personal and professional lives and how to manage their addiction in the future.

Comprehensive Treatment Clinics

Prescription drug abuse and opiate addiction impact millions of Americans every year. CRC Health operates a number of nationally recognized clinics that are dedicated to helping these individuals and their families regain control of their lives.

At welcoming, modern facilities conveniently located across the country, patients struggling with opiate addiction can receive treatment in a safe, clinically supportive environment. CRC’s accomplished team of doctors and medical professionals has developed a widely recognized expertise in this area, receiving frequent invitations to host panel discussions and serve as featured speakers at conferences by the American Society of Addiction Medicine and other authorities in the field.

The goal of our comprehensive treatment clinics is first to stabilize patients so they can maintain independent, productive lives, and second to engage clients in the ongoing process of rehabilitation. Our clinics specialize in detoxification and recovery through medication-assisted therapy, counseling, and support services, as well as “Maintenance to Abstinence” programs for individuals who are addicted to opiates but have been using for a relatively short period of time.

Beginning with a detailed psychological assessment, our skilled staff guides patients through a medically supervised stabilization period that integrates individual, group, and family counseling with state-of-the-art medication treatments such as buprenorphine (Suboxone™ and Subutex™) and methadone, followed by continuing outpatient care. When taken as directed and at the appropriate dose, these medications have been proven to suppress symptoms of opioid withdrawal, decrease cravings for opioids, reduce illicit opioid use, block the effects of other opioids, and help patients stay committed to treatment.

This unique combination of services allows patients to rid their system of toxic substances in the most comfortable and convenient manner available, and to return to normal life drug-free. As patients progress with treatment, they may begin making less frequent visits to the clinic and administering their own medications at home – all with the support of their therapist and the clinic staff. Treatment continues until the individual has mastered the basic skills for self-care and ongoing recovery.

Extended Care

After patients have completed primary care at a residential facility or other program, extended care offers clients the flexibility to transition back into the community-at-large, gradually returning to work and family life, while living in a structured environment with other recovering individuals. With ongoing clinical support that includes drug and alcohol testing, addiction workshops, recovery lectures, counseling, 12-step meetings, and relapse prevention services, patients slowly learn to take responsibility for their own behavior and adjust to the demands of daily life.

Many of our extended care programs are located in vibrant recovery communities where individuals can enjoy a wide variety of activities and amenities, from art galleries and museums to beaches, parks, and shopping centers. These communities are highly supportive of recovering addicts, with dozens of sober restaurants and coffeehouses and plenty of part-time and full-time employment opportunities. In a safe environment with a built-in support system, patients can practice independent living skills that are crucial for long-term success.

HEALTHY LIVING DIVISION

CRC’s Healthy Living Division provides for eating disorders and obesity, as well as any related emotional, social, or psychological issues. The goal of these programs is to return patients to their daily lives with the confidence, self-awareness, and coping skills necessary to make healthy lifestyle choices.  The division also includes Aspen Education Group’s youth programs – boarding schools and wilderness programs for youth with learning, behavioral, substance abuse, or emotional issues.

Eating Disorders

CRC Health Group’s eating disorder programs set the standard of excellence in the treatment of anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and other forms of disordered eating such as binge eating and compulsive overeating, as well as any co-occurring diagnoses. Adults and adolescents, both male and female, can choose from a wide spectrum of therapy options, including residential treatment, day treatment, and intensive outpatient treatment programs.

Our residential eating disorder facilities are located throughout the United States in welcoming, home-like settings with tranquil surroundings that are ideal for healing. Our expert staff consists of licensed professionals, including certified eating disorders specialists, doctors, nurses, therapists, dieticians, yoga instructors, and other healing arts specialists. Together, these professionals design a personalized treatment plan that incorporates psychological, medical, pharmacological, and nutritional therapies. Patients participate in therapeutic groups that cover menu planning and meal preparation, body image issues, fitness, art therapy, and spirituality, as well as traditional individual, group, and family counseling.

All of CRC’s eating disorder programs are collaborative and patient-driven with an emphasis on recovery through awareness of one’s relationship with self, with others, and with the environment. We provide a system of services that produce the lowest possible relapse rates, promoting healthy lifestyle choices and the tools necessary for long-term recovery.

Since recovery from an eating disorder is a lifelong process, CRC’s programs offer continued support after formal treatment ends, using live, anonymous online support groups that are accessible worldwide. An experienced counselor hosts forums each week on topics designed to enhance each patient’s quality of life. Throughout every stage of the treatment process, our patients receive constant support and encouragement from therapists and peers who understand the complexities of the recovery process.

Adolescent Weight Management

The Healthy Living Division of CRC Health operates adolescent weight loss camps and after-school programs, and the world’s first and only year-round therapeutic boarding schools for overweight children, teens, and young adults. These programs – Wellspring Camps, Wellspring Community Programs, and Wellspring Academies – were designed by leading researchers and clinicians to maximize long-term, sustainable weight loss.

Wellspring’s intensive clinical programs provide young people with the necessary tools, decision-making skills, and behavioral strategies to control their weight permanently. A distinguishing component of all of our programs is cognitive-behavioral therapy, used by master’s and doctoral-level therapists to enhance each child’s distress-tolerance skills, coping mechanisms, and ability to set goals and self-regulate.

Although our clients lose an average of 3-5 pounds per week and keep this weight off long-term, Wellspring’s primary goal is to teach children, teens, young adults, and families how to live a healthy lifestyle. Personal trainers encourage at least 10,000 steps a day, introducing a variety of exciting physical activities and sports that children can realistically continue after transitioning home.

The Wellspring meal plan is simple, scientific, and sustainable, with an emphasis on low-fat, nutrient-dense foods. Children, teens, and young adults discover the way diet and exercise affect the human body, while learning how to order at restaurants, find nutritious foods in the grocery store, and cook using our award-winning recipes.

In order to ensure lasting results, our behavioral coaches work with each child’s family throughout the program, and beyond. Through family workshops, educational courses, and family therapy sessions, the entire family learns how to make healthier choices and support their loved one as he/she works toward continued weight loss success. Our one-year aftercare program with online support from behavioral coaches and peers ensures that participants maintain their activity levels and improved eating habits long after formal treatment ends.

With weight loss programs located throughout the United States and in Australia and the United Kingdom, Wellspring has reached thousands of families, achieving some of the best results ever recorded for weight loss programs for children, adolescents, or adults. Wellspring’s programs have been featured on Dateline NBC, the Today Show, CNN, CBS Evening News, and in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and USA TODAY.Our clients not only lose weight and have fun, but they also undergo a full body and mind transformation, emerging with greater self-confidence, self-awareness, and hope for the future.

Adult Weight Management

CRC’s Healthy Living Division operates some of the world’s most effective weight management programs for overweight and obese adults. Recognizing that weight loss and management is a complex behavioral and biological struggle, our comprehensive and intensive flagship program, Structure House, provides adults of all ages with the necessary tools to lose weight and keep it off long-term.

Starting with nutritious foods in appropriate portions, program nutritionists work one-on-one with clients to create satisfying and delicious meals that are low in calories, fat, sodium, and cholesterol. Through individual nutrition counseling, menu planning, private cooking lessons, restaurant outings, supermarket tours, and weekly cooking demonstrations, our clients learn how to make healthier choices at home, at restaurants, and on-the-go.

Our patients also learn that in combination with a healthy diet, a daily exercise routine, tailored to the individual’s abilities and goals, can help them look, feel, and act more confident and energetic. Using top-of-the-line fitness equipment and classes designed to improve cardiovascular conditioning, flexibility, muscle strength, and relaxation, our trained exercise specialists and certified personal trainers help patients develop a personalized plan they can maintain after they return home.

Even more important than a new diet and exercise regimen, we believe lasting weight loss requires a shift in mentality and a new relationship with food. Our master’s and doctoral-level clinical staff helps patients uncover the emotional roots of their eating problems and find effective ways to deal with the triggers that cause over-eating. Because weight loss and maintenance efforts don’t end when our clients return home, our therapists also oversee an extensive aftercare program that includes regular telephone sessions and support groups.

Our treatment professionals are published experts in their fields of obesity and obesity-related disorders. These proven experts have helped thousands of individuals from all 50 states and more than 35 countries successfully lose weight. Because of the impressive results we achieve, our adult weight loss programs have been featured on the Today Show and 60 Minutes, as well as in The New York Times, Associated Press, Glamour magazine, The Wall Street Journal, and USA TODAY.

Aspen Education Group

Our therapeutic and educational programs offer help for children and adolescents struggling with academic, emotional, and behavioral issues that have hindered their success at school or at home. Whether a child is confronted with learning disorders, ADD/ADHD, Asperger’s syndrome, or high-functioning autism, or is displaying defiance, low self-esteem, anger management issues, negative peer relationships, adoption issues, or depression, CRC has a program that can help.

Aspen Education Group is the nation’s leading provider of therapeutic schools and programs for struggling or underachieving young people. Programs range from short-term interventions to residential treatment and are offered in a variety of therapeutic settings including boarding schools, outdoor wilderness programs, and special needs summer camps.

Because of our reputation for quality, safety, and longevity, many of Aspen’s programs have been profiled by major news and television organizations around the world, including U.S. News and World Report, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, and People magazine, as well as on CNN, ABC’s 20/20 and Good Morning America, NBC’s Today Show and Dateline NBC, National Public Radio, and the syndicated television show Dr. Phil.

Wilderness Programs

Aspen’s outdoor behavioral health programs are short-term, high-impact therapeutic interventions that emphasize experiential learning and individualized counseling as a catalyst for positive behavioral change. Designed for troubled teens struggling with a wide range of behavioral issues, our wilderness programs expose young people to natural environments, complete with camping expeditions, hiking, and other adventure activities. In this unique setting, free from modern distractions, campers have the opportunity to discover who they want to be, as our highly trained instructors guide them toward greater respect for themselves and others.

Wilderness therapy is a powerful experience for an adolescent. Teens enrolled in an outdoor program experience the challenges of living and working together outdoors as a means of working through internal conflicts and emotional obstacles that have kept them from succeeding with parents, in school, and in prior treatment. By the end of an outdoor program, teens develop a strong sense of accomplishment and personal growth, and are well-equipped to move on to the next stage of their journey.

Therapeutic Boarding Schools

Aspen’s therapeutic boarding schools help adolescents who are struggling academically, socially, or behaviorally reach new levels of success. Using innovative, individualized treatment that combines comprehensive therapy, education, recreational activities, and alternative therapies, our boarding schools are an attractive alternative to the traditional school setting. With both single-gender and co-ed campuses, each of our residential programs follows an accredited middle school, high school, or college-preparatory curriculum.

Upon admission, our highly trained clinical staff creates a unique educational plan for each student that incorporates group therapy, individual counseling, and specialized therapeutic experiences such as equine therapy, which are designed to build the student’s personal and emotional skills. In a structured and nurturing environment, with a small teacher-to-student ratio, therapeutic boarding schools encourage personal growth and healthy self-expression, inspire academic excellence, and teach individual responsibility and service to others.

Summer Camps

Aspen’s summer programs offer youth with special needs, including Asperger’s syndrome, high-functioning autism, ADD/ADHD, nonverbal learning disorder, and other special learning needs, a safe summer full of fun, adventure, and new learning experiences, and provide parents with unique alternatives to ordinary summer camps. Camp activities promote self-esteem, social skills, responsibility, and the basics of good decision-making. These programs are designed with each child’s special needs in mind.
