Program Description

In the Wellspring College Program, healthy living and academic success combine to give high school graduates ages 18-24 the promise of a brighter future. During the day, students attend classes at Reedley College, located less than two miles from our verdant 68-acre campus in central California, and get plenty of physical activity at a brand new, state-of-the-art fitness center that includes weight training, cardio, aerobics, swimming, and basketball. Reedley College offer programs in business, health sciences, literature and composition, math, science, and technology, study abroad, and more.

Students in the Wellspring College Program participate in Wellspring's scientifically based diet and activity program, which consists of a delicious low-fat, low-density diet, nutrition and culinary classes, walking at least 10,000 steps a day, and cognitive-behavioral therapy sessions with master's and doctoral level therapists. Living in a separate dormitory on the Wellspring Academy of California campus, College Program students have computers, dining, kitchen, and shared common space, and dozens of activities to choose from.

By the time students complete the program, they have lost a remarkable amount of weight and, more important, have the skills and motivation to continue to follow the Wellspring plan. They have learned how to shop for and cook healthy meals, and have successfully practiced putting their new skills to the test.
