Program Description

White Deer Run's main substance abuse treatment facility is located in Allenwood, Pennsylvania. Situated on 150 acres of beautiful countryside, WDR of Allenwood offers adult and adolescent detox, adult dual diagnosis inpatient, adult and adolescent inpatient, and adult inpatient forensic services.

White Deer Run of Allenwood offers specialty groups that focus on a variety of topics such as relapse prevention, co-occurring disorders, coping skills, life skills development, men's issues, women's issues, gay/lesbian/bisexual group, African-American group, and continuing care planning, to name a few.

Patients are placed in primary programs based on where they fit in the stages of change, a model set forth by Prochaska and DiClementi, and participate in group and chemical dependency services in the mornings and evenings. In the afternoon, patients participate in creative therapies and specialty groups as designated by their individualized treatment plan.

White Deer Run also operates three other inpatient facilities located in Lancaster, Lebanon, and Mt. Pleasant as well as the Cove Forge Behavioral Health System, consisting of 9 treatment sites. There are also a large number of outpatient sites located throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Each of White Deer Run's facilities provides a relaxed atmosphere that lends itself to personal reflection and healing for adults and adolescents alike.

Our weekend family program includes educational groups and conjoint family sessions. It is through this process that our clients and families begin to understand that their loved one has a disease called chemical dependency. Anger turns to laughter. Fear and distrust turn into hope and love. For the first time in a long time life begins to feel good ... and warm ... and wonderful again.

Clients benefit from participation in 12 step support groups to address recovery issues, learn from others with similar experiences, and to exchange ideas about recovery. These 12 step groups are part of Allenwood's treatment process and ensure clients a greater chance of success in their recovery upon discharge.

Adult Services:
White Deer Run offers our adult clients both inpatient non-hospital and partially hospitalized detox; residential programs; day treatment; intensive outpatient individual, group and family programs; halfway housing living; aftercare; and online treatment.

Adolescent Services:
White Deer Run offers the following services for adolescents that are separate and distinct from the adult programs:

• Inpatient Non-Hospital Detoxification
• Inpatient Residential CD Rehabilitation for clients aged 12-22 assessed as needing inpatient substance abuse rehabilitation
• Mental Health Residential Treatment Program
• Intensive Outpatient Program
