Program Description
Aspen ranch is a therapeutic residential treatment center for troubled adolescents that utilizes an Integrated Relationship Model, in conjunction with a Collaborative Problem Solving Approach to initiate positive change in the lives of teenagers. The Integrated Relationship Model, developed at Aspen Ranch, focuses on respect, individual care, and using a teaching approach to problem situations. Collaborative Problem Solving requires that multiple staff collaborate to discuss students’ progress, necessary consequences, and to create learning experiences. These methods ensure that each student is being treated respectfully and regarded as an individual.
One of the Ranch's outstanding features is its horse program for troubled teens, in which all students are required to participate. The ranch is home to approximately 35 horses and 5 steers who are all employed in providing therapy and experiential learning to our students. Besides these wonderful animals, Aspen Ranch also boasts our 225' x 110' indoor riding arena, enabling the horse therapy program to be fully functional regardless of weather.
Aspen Ranch has a focused academic program, that is fully accredited by the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools, licensed by the State of Utah for residential treatment, and a California Approved Non-Public School. All academic classes are taught by Utah Certified Teachers. Aspen Ranch combines the rigorous academics of a private boarding school with the intensive therapy of an adolescent residential treatment facility in a Ranch setting. We offer our best in both therapy and education. Aspen Ranch provides opportunities for students to reach their intellectual capacity and to become actively involved through various experiential learning activities. Aspen Ranch uses a collaborative learning environment where critical thinking is the focus. Teachers work closely with the therapists and residential staff to incorporate specific therapeutic objectives.
